About The Good Food Collective

Situated in the heart of Canterbury’s Maling Road precinct, this cafe offers a calm and cozy spot where locals gather for thoughtful, healthy meals and well-crafted coffee. It’s the kind of place that suits a relaxed breakfast or brunch, with options like a warm lentil wrap or a turmeric latte providing a gentle, nourishing start to the day. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, with plenty of outdoor seating that catches the neighborhood’s easygoing vibe, along with a comfortable interior space that welcomes solo diners, families, and those settling in to work quietly on a laptop.

The menu leans toward fresh, wholesome choices with an emphasis on vegan and vegetarian options, alongside hearty wraps and salads that cater to a range of tastes. People often come here for the straightforward but thoughtfully prepared food — from thick-cut toast with homemade preserves to more inventive dishes like a red lentil dahl wrap or a curry-inspired baked pumpkin and Brussel sprouts salad. Coffee is clearly a highlight, with consistently enjoyable brews that draw in both casual visitors and regulars alike.

The dining experience feels unhurried and grounded, supported by friendly staff who add warmth to the setting without feeling intrusive. The cafe seems to attract a diverse crowd — from families and individuals enjoying some downtime, to local workers making the most of the free street parking and accessible seating. With inclusive touches like gender-neutral restrooms and dog-friendly spaces, it fits naturally into the community’s relaxed yet connected rhythm.

One of the most delicious coffee that I have ever had. Nice staff with vibe warm and welcoming face that help me to have a better day

Great coffee. A large coffee with Bonsoy milk, only $4. I couldn't believe it. I usually pay $5.00 - $6.00 even in the western suburbs. I had 'Pumpkin & baked brussel sprouts curry'. I liked it because it was more like warm salad; creamy and with lovely subtle curry flavour.

the BEST noodle salad i’ve ever had, so fresh and high standard ingredients. very cozy cafe with great ice lattes and good prices.

Ordered a pie, asked for it slightly warm, not usual- slightly. The guy repeats, “Yep, slightly.” Then nukes it for 57 hours. I ask, “Still slightly warm, yeah?” — “Yep, slightly, nearly done!” Finally get it back, it’s boiling. I go, “that’s not slightly warm.” Another bloke says, “Oh, by Victorian law, pies must match the temperature of the sun, so next time just get it completely cold “. What a legend

Brilliant food and great company. A new favourite for coffee during the day. The coffee is excellent, the coffee in salads makes a huge choice. Lots of sweets I'm supposed to avoid. The staff are very friendly. Just a great, overall experience

Had a laugh with the legend behind the counter. Gave me the best long black I've ever had. Made my coffee in 10 seconds because I had a train to catch. Will be back often.

Best cafe on maling road! We have been happy customers for years. This little locals spot has amazing coffee and their daily salads are always delicious. Usually end up buying one of the freshly baked treats when we stop in as well!!

One of the best cookies (cranberry and white chocolate), warm and cozy, great services, survived from the freezing morning.
